For those who don't know, the British National Party is just the British Nazi Party under a different name. They promote an immediate halt to "all further non-white immigration" and the "voluntary resettlement" of non-whites to "their lands of ethnic origin".

Interestingly enough, their website refuses to say what they plan to do with non-whites who refuse to participate in this "voluntary resettlement" (read: ethnic cleansing/expulsion) plan.

This sounds like a minor little position to me, but still, the fact that anyone could get elected on a Nazi platform in a nation that fought the Nazis tooth and nail is beyond disturbing.

I'm in England, and unfortunately the BNP seems to be gaining alot of popularity among people I know and talk to. This country is going down-hill.

they are getting rural seats, and everyone knows that rurals are about as racist as they come... They're the "britain is for the british" people who speak with plums in their mouths.

They've won a council seat. The thread made it look like they've gotten into parliament.

Suffice to say, the Monster Raving Looney Party has won council seats in the past. (For those who don't know, their manifesto once contained Abolish Wednesday) Disturbing yes, but hardly a major disaster.

Reminds me of when Mogens Glistrup, a Danish politician heading a party he calls "The Progressive Party" suggested that all Muslims should be rounded up and interned into concentration camps. He was arrested and his political party was thrown out of the parlament.

Why is a British political group with the same agenda getting away so easy?

I I remember correctly, the British nation party is the decendent and hier of Sir Oswald Mosely's British Union of Fascists of the 1930's and 40's.

The case is - what should we do about it?? I'm tempted to think that banning the BNP would be a good temporary solution, as it would keep them from attaining much political influence.

Banning them would accomplish nothing. It's the general climate of blame the immigrants for everything that's the problem. How to fix that? Er... I have no idea.

Try restricting the flow of immigrants into the country (set up a quota system, an x number of people can apply for citizenship per year), evict people who arrive illegally or without documents, etc.

I didn't mean to post that yet... Anyway, the problem is that the tabloid media has it firmly stuck in the minds of the masses that the asylum seekers are responsible for virtually every ill in this country. It doesn't help that the government has dealt with the immigration issue very, very poorly, and their distribution of the immigrants around the country has led to some serious bitterness towards them in some areas. In places like Burnley you have a lot of people with very little who feel that the asylum seekers are getting a free ride because the council seems to give massively disproportionate funding for the areas the immigrants are living.

I'm not at all sure how the damage can be repaired while The Sun continues to publish its current xenophobic, panic-mongering trash.

educate the masses would be the best way... apart from a select few the immigrants end up working in factories doing reptitive boring tasks that pay minimum wage, if anything they are a blessing. until they outnumber the natives, thats when you really have a problem

thats pretty much what already happens... its just far more beurocratic (oh crap i can't spell it

) than that. They need to speed the process up, and crack down on the illegal immigrants.

No, they want the existing immigrants to leave and go home and no new ones arrive period. The UK already has a quota system as I recall, as does the US and other nations.

We do send some back, but the various human rights treaties we are signed up to don't really allow us to mass deport them. I think it might be the EU human rights act, but whatever it is it prevents us from sending asylum seekers back to a nation where their lives are in danger.
