Yea.

They are doing a evaluation if he's insane or not.

Not really sure, the case is still under investigation.

But he's a nut so who can say?

It is common in a nation like Sweden for their ministers to forego any kind of major protection, they feel there is no need for it and it brings them closer to the people.

Look at the farcical visit to Tony Blair's hometown with Bush today. There are so many security operations going on that it's just a charade. It's no informal visit and no one is falling for it.

Additionally, I believe the minister in question declined any bodyguards anyway.

Often nuts have odd motivations. The guy who shor Reagan in 1981 was trying to impress Jody Foster so she would date him. Yeah...that worked out great.

She most likely didn't have any. In Finland no one in our goverment apart from the President and Prime Minester has bodyguards of their own. I think the situation in Sweden is pretty similar.

The suspect - who is guilty as hell - is of Serbian decent and came to Sweden as a child. He was later sent back to live with his grandparents for some years before returning. The motiv for the attack seems to have been anger over the Swedish goverment's support of the bombing of Serbia.

However the guy seems quite crazy so it could probably have been triggered by anything.

The latest we have heard on the news is that this Serbian expects to get a medal for great deeds done against an enemy. He seems to onestly think that all serbs will love him and greet him as a hero for the deed he did. :(

The swedish police representative that spoke too some news reporters yesterday said that they (the police) don't belive that he is mad at all and that this might just be a random chance murder. There is no evidence to suggest that it was planned out earlier.

Many critisize the swedish police for incompetence. Anna had on 3 separate occations requested police protection and had filed complaints that the police did not protect her.
