Bill to override FCC in the wings

Post by DPDarkPrimus »

To be more specific, the bill would override the FCC ruling that "fuck" is okay to use as long as it is a discriptor.

The whole concept of 'offensive words' has always struck me as silly.

It's even more ridiculous when you can't use specific words but you can say something else that means the exact same thing.

I particularlly like that on American television you can easilly get away with saying something in another language that would be considered obscene if you said it in English. Spanish has been great for that the last few years but Joss Whedon had his characters using Chinese on Firefly when they were swearing.

The thing with Firefly though is that their pronunciation was so bad, that even if you knew Chinese you couldn't understand most of what they said.

That's pretty funny too. :)

On the DVD set they mention how much trouble they had saying the Chinese parts even though it sounds like most of them practiced quite a bit.
