Are you presently inebriated? Due process does not eliminate the right of police officers to defend themselves and/or the public from a clear and present danger. It applies to those who peacefully surrender to the police when asked to, and submit themselves to trial. Those who intend to go down fighting are exempting themselves from due process.

That's why a bank robbery in downtown Toronto a few years ago was ended by the robber walking too close to a window and a police sharpshooter putting a bullet in his brain. If you want due process, surrender.

Having read the article (after having made a fool of myself), I have to agree. The kid needs a 5.56mm attitude adjuster to the head.

Not a good thing.

Just bring in a bazooka, wait till he next fires, and blow apart that wall. I doubt he'll shoot back after the wall has just blown in on him.

So let me get this straight... A sixteen year old kid attacks his own mother, then begins firing at the police when she calls them? What the hell is wrong with this guy???

I don't care what problems he has, he should be punished swiftly and harshly.

the only reason i see for keeping such a mentally distrubed individual alive is so that the police may show that they are above vengence. I understand he is armed and dangerous, but pasting his ass isn't going to help the police in the long run. If people think that the police are gonna waste em when they show up, then people are more likely to try and kill police more often. Obviously, if the kid does anything more than just ignore police and shoot randomly (i.e. exiting the house trying to attack police) then he should be killed, but if he is simply holed up in a house, there is no reason to kill him, let the courts do that.

Philadelphia tried that, didn't work real well. Unfortunately this kid is probably going to get to live, since police are unlikely to risk storming the place, and I doubt they have a ready supply of frag grenades. Lets just hopes he's even stupider and a sniper gets a good shot.

Not to mention it would be a PR disaster if the cops killed a 16 year-old as opposed to a legal adult. I'm sorry, but if you shoot at a cop with intent to harm, no matter what the age, you deserve everything you get.

Trigger locks wouldn't slowed him down for too long if he had to dismantled them. Not to mentioned they're pointless if he haves the key(s) or copies of them.

I tend to believe it's the other way around. If perps think they stand a good chance of being wasted by cops, they'd a)be less likely to commit crimes that put them in a position to be shot, and b) be more likely to surrender.
