EGYPTIAN CABINET RESIGNS

Egypt's prime minister and entire cabinet resigned on Friday, before an expected major reshuffle of President Hosni Mubarak's government.

The resignations were announced after an emergency cabinet meeting.

State-run TV broke into its regular programming to report that Mubarak named Ahmed Nazief, former state minister for communications and information, to replace Egypt's prime minister of the past four years, Atef Obeid.

The latest cabinet reshuffle took place in July 2002.

The cabinet's resignation, which has been expected for some time, comes amid growing calls for Mubarak, Egypt's major powerbroker, to undertake major reforms of the Arab country's political, economic and social landscape.

Meanwhile.......rumor claims.....

Mubarak went to Germany, claiming a major back operation...but its very doubtful that this was necessary to be done outside of Egypt...and its more likely to be cancer.
