al-Jazeera: Zarqawi possibly Captured

Reports in Kuwait on Friday said a man assumed to be Al Qaeda leader in Iraq, Abu Musab Zarqawi has been captured near the Syrian border.

The report claimed that the man was captured during a joint operation by U.S. occupation forces and Iraqi police, Al Siyasah newspaper, quoting Iraqi sources, said Friday.

It also said that the suspect was caught in a white shirt and jeans, and he gave no resistance when he realized his hideout was besieged, according to Iraqi police.

The U.S. and Iraqi investigators are trying to identify the captive and has sent his DNA sample for testing, the unconfirmed report indicated.

Zarqawi is the most wanted suspect in Iraq and has a U.S. bounty of $25 million on his head.
This will REALLY set the conspiracy theorists off if it turns out to be true.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

I hope it's true, anyway. Zarqawi is an absolute bastard who needs to be brought to justice.

If it is true, though, do the Iraqis retain custody of him? It's their country, but most of his crimes have been committed elsewhere. I wonder what sort of extradition process is in place.

Hmmm, not seeing anything on Fox or CNN about it......

Yiipy, if true.

Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

It would be great if it was him, but I'm taking it with a grain of salt until other sources report it.

Pfft I can top that.

Here's an idea- Zarqawi is nothing but a "construct" to give Bush a last minute boost before the election. Some "group" that benefits from having Bush and the Republicans in office captured him months ago- once they had him they built him up "his" reputation through kidnappings and fake video tapes- tapes in which "he" is ALWAYS masked. Once the election gets close they'll hand him over to the either the Iraqi government or the US forces, and that way Bush will have a "prominant" terrorist captured, one who brutally killed many Americans and who is the "main cause" of terrorism in Iraq, just in time for the election.

Of course, I have no evidence to support this speculation and I'm submitting it mostly for fun. However, I will note that that this is what I would do if I was immoral and had a strong vested interest in seeing Bush win the election.
Devolution is quite as natural as evolution, and may be just as pleasing, or even a good deal more pleasing, to God. If the average man is made in God's image, then a man such as Beethoven or Aristotle is plainly superior to God, and so God may be jealous of him, and eager to see his superiority perish with his bodily frame.
