Um, what happened to conservativism here? I though conservatives were supposed to be all about the government respectfully treating everyone like responsible citizens and thus staying out of their business as much as possible under the assumption that we can largely take care of ourself, not looking down upon us like we are a bunch of scared bedwetters who needs Dear Old Dad to protect us.

Of course. And, like any 10-year old, the loving parent has to decide what's best for it at all times and can't allow it too much freedom. Isn't America the 10-year old so lucky to have a loving father like George Bush?
