Gotta love how she claims that the nation ought never to go to war when the Democrats control the executive or legislative branch when the Dems won the biggest war of them all (and I remain convinced that Truman and his colleagues were the second-most important architects of the Soviet Union's defeat, right after the Marx/Lenin/Stalin axis)

A good question, since Tailgunner Joe got his start in politics trying to get Nazi war criminals off the hook, namely the SS men who murdered American POWs and local civilians at Malmedy. McCarthy was upset that the poor helpwess wittle Nazis faced war crimes proceedings and a date with either the hangman or the firing squad.
