Nothing left to do now but hold your breath.
Seven Hours till the East Coast polls open. So now everyone waits. Bush waits. Kerry waits. Nader plays with a ball of string and croons to "the precious" that this year they'll win… and waits. We vote, we do our work, and we wait. Until the votes are tallied tomorrow night, every concerned American is in the same boat as every candidate in every election. We all wait, and we all watch. Later will come the speeches, and the arguments, and the partisan and legal back and forth. But for one day there will only be democracy, with every person who so chooses, regardless of occupation or status, contributing to the process which guides our nation. I absolutely love election day.

Now, I consider myself a fairly strong person. I have survived my share of personal horrors and trials (two terminal family deaths within a year, a parental mid-life crisis, and my sister's fixation on Orlando Bloom, among other things )
But tomorrow hasn't even dawn and I'm scared to a degree that I haven't been in years. My own variation of the Female Founder's words to Breen General Thot Parn in What You Leave Behind comes to mind, especially since I've used it much over the last few days.
"The outcome of this election will determine the outcome of the first half of the new millenium. Either we take the step forwards into an era of advancement and social progression and or we continue to step backwards to social regression and outdate philosophies."
As Doc Brown has taught us, the future isn't written, but it can be changed. Let us hope that tomorrow, it will change for the better.
