Not only do the dead vote...

Post by LadyTevar »

They get 40% of the vote!!

As of this moment, in the race of Kanawha Co. Prosecutor, the man that died two weeks ago is listed with 23,600 votes. His (living) oppenent has 31,400, with 57% of precincts reported.

That's just wrong.

That's nothing. John Ashcroft lost to a dead guy. And he went on to become Attorney General! Just goes to show you that being dead doesn't mean you can still run a strong campaign.

Of course, Ashcroft's opponent died after people voted, but then it wouldn't be any fun.

Dawn of The Dead, Washington style. :)

Hasn't this happened a few times before? People dying after their names goes on the electoral registry?

Actually IIrC he died several weeks befre the election.

And they INTENTIONALLY voted for the dead guy rather than ashcroft.

It was assumed that Mel Carnahan's wife would get the seat if he won.

Many people will vote for the dead guy because they have no desire whatsoever to vote for the living opponant. Furthermore, going so signals that they supported the man's ideas, and still want their voice heard.

Yes, Carnahan's wife took his place on the ticket. Plus, IIRC, there was a judge in the St. Louis area who held open to polls for some obscure reason that pushed Carnahan over the top.

that's ok, in San Francisco, pets not only vote they have canidates for city counsel...

So far the first Pet to run was a Dog, registared to vote and put on the ticket against his will by his News Radio Reporter owner.
