Back to the primaries

Post by sketerpot »

For those of you who voted in the Democratic primaries for a candidate on the basis of electability, who voted for someone who wouldn't rock the boat and risk turning people off, especially those who voted for Kerry: if you knew he would lose the election, would you have voted differently?

What candidate would have been the most fun to see run for president? And, if Kerry had found out shortly after his election in the primaries that he was going to lose the presidential race, what would he have done differently?

I would have voted for Howard Dean and tried to get him to scream more, but that's just me. :D

I still think it's a shame that Clark didn't get the nod.

Dean had already retired by the time my primary came around, dammit.

Dean would have been the most fun. Perhaps Clark would have had the best shot of being elected -- though he would have needed a competent team.

I would have voted for Clark, the Republican I am. Although Dean would have been the most fun to watch.

Dean, personally...but he'd need a semicompetent party to back him up. Which..er...right. He's running /against/ the semicompetent party. Whoops, forgot about that.

Oh come on.. SHARPTON!

That would definetely be the most fun to watch. If I knew that no matter who I picked, they were going to lose, I would pick Sharpton just for the fun value. Although it would have been nice to see Dean rape Bush at the debates (more so than Kerry did).

I'm registered as an indy, but I really, really wanted Howard Dean to get it. I think he definitely had the energy and maybe even enough charisma (well, maybe just personality) to give Bush an asskicking. I know a dozen people who voted for Bush who would've voted for Dean had he been the Democratic nominee.

I actually voted for Dean in the primaries as I didn't like Bush and he was the Democrat I could vote for, instead of voting against Bush.

Instead, the Democrats nominated John Kerry because he was 'electable'.

To all of the Democratic primary voters who supported Kerry, GWB says 'thank you' for the Presidency'. :P

Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."- General Sir Charles Napier

Well, maybe with the quick pair of Gore and Kerry the Democratic Party will learn that 'electable' does not mean 'dry, incompetent cardboard cutout.' I swear, it seems like they're bloody trying to lose.
