Either way, the people who run this place need to undergo some of the same treatment they give the kids. Ditto for parents who send them there.

This is about the third time it's appeared. It's still sick and inhumane and the place needs to be stormed by SS troops, that's about the only sort of justice I could see for the people running the facility.

Seriously, this is just fucked up. Never a better case for training various SWAT teams and SF teams in prison assaults.

Oh- and the parents should be arbitrarily sent to North Korea where they can try and preach a bit and learn what a REAL prison is like.

Mind you, if it's starting to filter through to news broadcasters like the BBC (and according to the article, a documentary is being shown about it on UK TV), it can only increase international pressure for something to actually be done about it.

I think it showed up the first time on the BBC. The American media didn't even touch it.

I've definitely seen some TV program (20/20 or somesuch) on either this place or a related shithole about a year or two ago. So the American media isn't simply ignorning it. The American governments (this is a state issue I think) are another matter. I agree that this is child abuse/endangerment by any stretch of the imagination.

Really, we need to call in a couple squads of SEALs to clear this place. It makes a damn good case for public execution.

My girlfriend is from Jamaica, and she said she knew two people who were sent to this place. And it didn't even work for both of them, they both were sent by their parents for drug abuse problems and when they both got out, still did drugs. So not only are their methods despicable, but, apparentely not even that effective.

Maybe parents should start taking responsibility for their ass hole kids, instead of shipping them off to some hell hole for a year.

Several years ago when I first heard about this place and others, it was from a documentary about them, created and aired by NBC 10. Since then I've seen it mentioned a number of times. The US media is hardly shying away form the issue.

Steve Sinnott, general secretary of the National Union of Teachers, said the plans could "ghettoise" education for such disruptive pupils.

He said: "The Conservative leader identifies the right issue but offers the wrong solution. Teachers and the vast majority of young people do not want to see their lessons disrupted by unacceptable behaviour by a minority.

"But the proposal for privatised 'turnaround' schools could mean children were labelled for life. No child should be written off in this way."

Mr Howard re-stated his commitment to abolish independent appeal panels, which have been blamed for over-ruling attempts by schools to exclude pupils.

'Boot camps'

He said he wanted to give head teachers and governors the final say over such matters.

"This would be highly regrettable. Private provision is driven invariably by consideration of profitability and minimising financial risk.

"This would not be in the educational interests of vulnerable children."

I'm sure the members of this board could easily deal with the guards and liberate that place on their own if we spent a year or so planning and training for the operation. The Jamaican military would be unlikely to respond with sufficient force in sufficient time to stop us.

The problem is, at least for U.S. citizens, there is a law against Filibustering which we would probably be prosecuted under.

You guys are all rooting for arresting/beating/killing the camp operators, but aren't you all overlooking something?

Like perhaps the shitty parents who can't raise their kids properly and send them there? What happens when you close the camps? Do these fucked up kids go back to their fucked up parents so they can continue to be a leech on society?

Maybe you could take some of that aggression towards the camp operators and direct it at the parents. Send them to the camps along with their kids, perhaps, and teach them how to raise children properly?
