US Government Lied about NK Nuclear Weapons

Post by Edi »

Well, my morning newspaper just paraphrased a Foreign Affairs article written by Selig Harrison, and according to that, the Bush administration's claims about North Korean nuclear weapons were fabricated exactly like their claims about Iraq WMDs. Mind you, this is no longer the case, but it was when the Shrub administration started its hard line on NK, which led the NK regime to kick out the international inspectors and resume enriching plutonium. They did not have nuclear weapons then (a couple of years ago), but they are estimated to have between six and ten nukes now. These actions directly led to NK becoming more of a threat.

Another glorious victory for Shrub and the Neocons in their fight to curtail WMDs around the world...

Unfortinately I don't have a link to the FA article, because it would require subscription, and Helsingin Sanomat doesn't have its article in English.

Minus the part were NK claims to have nukes unlike Iraq?

Meanwhile the current Nuclear problem in NK can be traced directly back to Carter and Clinton decision to give them aid and materials in the 90s... To not devolp nuclear weaponry and cease missile testing...

On another note anyone happen to know the time between the Bush Admin decisions to go hardline on them and annoucment of Nuclear Weaponry?

The HS article, paraphrasing the FA one, said that when the Bush administration started claiming NK had nukes (2002), it was a completely fraudulent claim. And in retaliation, NK kicked out the inspectors, restarted enriching plutonium and built themselves some, so yes, they have nukes NOW, they did not have them in 2002 when that brouhaha started.

And this has what exactly to do with the fact that Shrub and the neocons exacerbated the problem by their actions? Nothing, which makes it red herring apologist excuses.

Something like a 18 months to two years, unless I remember badly wrong.
