Cheney At Auschwitz: What A Dick!

Post by Elfdart »

So they're holding a special ceremony in Poland to remember the liberation of Auschwitz by the Red Army. Clearly a solemn scene. Or it was until Dickhead Cheney shows up dressed like a guy ready to clear snow off a sidewalk. Yeah, a parka with patches on it and hiking boots. That's proper attire. Why not "I Went To a Nazi Death Camp And All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt" while the useless motherfucker was at it?

Reality Based Nation has it just about right:

I would say "Take off eh, Cheney you hoser!" but this wasn't just someone being a slob. So instead... :finger:

I don't see why he couldn't have worn something black and fashionable but warm at the same time.

This seems like a knee-jerk overreaction. What's next, criticizing his choice of automobile? Or the color he paints his home?

Seriously. The guy didn't show up in bright colors or anything.
Reality Based Nation has it just about right:
*snickers* The same site railing baselessly about how the voter turnout numbers in Iraq are biased, and then insisting that they don't matter, because Bush must be lying anyway?

Compared to the other people around him, it made him stand out like the pope on a pogo stick.

The outfit is entirely unfit for the occasion. Who ever would go to a funeral with that, or to commemorate mass-murederd people?

And someone seemed to have told him how insensitive he was, because the next day he wore something more fit to the whole purpose.

Wow, that must be the outfit Cheney wears when he's out clubbing baby seals, running over hippies with tanks, and generally subverting the democratic process. We got him now!

 Seems rampantly inappropriate... but what kind of idiot doesn't first find out what everyone else is wearing? That's like common sense, if there's any doubt of how one should dress (on all important occasions.) Appearance can be everything in these kinds of situations.

Of course, I think my intrinsic girl-ness came out in that statement
"The rest of the poem plays upon that pun. On the contrary, says Catullus, although my verses are soft (molliculi ac parum pudici in line 8, reversing the play on words), they can arouse even limp old men. Should Furius and Aurelius have any remaining doubts about Catullus' virility, he offers to fuck them anally and orally to prove otherwise." - Catullus 16, Wikipedia

Actually, the homepage of that site is pretty funny. It leaves its old articles up, so you can see them changing tunes.

While I laugh at its knee-jerk reactions, pathetic back-pedalling, and frothing at the mouth, Cheney's attire in this situation is entirely inappropriate. The man should have some respect for clothing appropriate for the occasion.

True. I'm not really sure what he was thinking (or his staff was thinking) with that. At least he did better on day two, but it really was pretty disrespectful.

That's a hardcore lefty site. What's disturbing is that mainstream rightists (including the Bush Administration) are just as bad when it comes to constantly changing stories and justifications.

Elections and Bush: does it matter?
By Bob Cesca

Does it matter that voter turnout in central Iraq was light at best? Does it matter that voter turnout in the north and south was strong? Does is matter that an Iraqi election official is claiming 72% voter turnout even though that number is extremely exaggerated? Does it matter that dozens of people were killed at polling places?

None of it matters. Even if there had been 0% voter turnout, the Bush administration would still use the simple notion of an "election" to claim a grand political victory, which they'll exploit at every opportunity. As you see pictures of Bush and his baby-toothed grin today remember that he's fabricating his own reality. What they claim and what is real are two separate things.

Millions of voters or no voters at all, things will continue in Iraq much as they have so far -- if not much worse. And the Bush administration will continue to function without a strategy.

Proof of democracy in Iraq can't be determined simply declaring "Elections!" any more than someone becoming a millionaire by walking into a bank and declaring "I have a million dollars!"
I found this one worth a chuckle. What's in bold I would like to ask the author "Based on what," and as for the red, that's just unsubstantiated whining.

Slightly off topic, but Elfdart, have you been waiting for Cheney to do something at least semi-assholish so you could put up the title "Cheney ______ : What a Dick"?

He indeed

But then what you prefer Chenney had done?
Would you prefer he gouge out his eyes beat himself with birches and wailing while carying the two thousand ton rock of American shame from Paris to Auschwitz?

He should have hired the Queer Eye for the Straight Guy crew to help him avoid such an international fashion fopaux. His daughter could have given him the number.

Kind of a surprising gaffe for a political veteran like Cheney ... must be his favorite warm coat. Or the hooker spilled something on him at breakfast and that was his backup outfit while he had the black coat cleaned and pressed.

personally i think he should have held out for a good sex scandal, that would have made for the perfect double entendre. Something to the effect of:

Cheney knocks up 21 year old secretary: what a dick!

This is just stupid of him, shouldn't he have a staff or some advisors who'd mention that that might not be the most appropriate outfit?
