Computer security advice

Post by Setzer »

I need advice on supplementing my PC's security.
I need to know of useful free programs for reducing the risk from viruses.
If there are any alternate web browsers that have better security and a similar user layout to Internet Explorer, please let me know. As it stands, my Mom is downloading a 16 meg patch on a 56k because she "might" be subject to a worm.

You think 16M over 56k is bad? Try 400 over 26.4.

Oh, and get firefox, then go to mozdev.org to get the Internet Explorer theme.
