DVD Player Problem

I recently had a friend burn a movie me and a few other friends made to DVD, for a school project. It played on the school DVD player (I don't know what type) without any problem, but when I tried to play it on my home DVD player (a JVC, apparently an XV-S300), it wouldn't run. It's a Memorex DVD without any marks or scratches. The DVD player attempts to read it for about a minute, then stops and the digital readout on the player says "Error".

Any idea what the problem might be?

Your DVD player does not read burned DVDs.

And this should reside in G&C...

ir your player's so old, it likely won't read it. much like cd-rs and cd-rws, if the cd player is so old it's not going to be able to read the discs due to them being made in a different fashion from regular discs. only hope in this case is to buy a more up to date player.

Yeah, it might not be able to read it. DVD+Rs without the compatibility flag set are particularly susceptible to this.

You're better off using a DVD-R disk instead of +R. They're the most compatable with set-top players.

DVD+R with the compatibility flag set is more compatible than DVD-R.
