Wing Commander 3 problem

Post by Darksider »

I'm on the last mission of Wing Commander 3 (I just picked up the PS1 version for 4.99 at a local gamestop), and I keep getting stuck at the last part where you have to fight Hobbes. I kill him and I get stuck fighting an endless wave of heavy bombers.

I've checked the online strategy guides, and they say that you're supposed to kill Prince Thrakkath first, but his Bloodfang fighter isn't in the combat zone.

It's the last part of the last mission.

(The PS1 versions of WC 3 and 4 don't have ground missions, for some reason those were cut.) Is Thrakkath out there somewhere? I don't get any transmissions from him, and the Kilrathi seem like the type to broadcast long ass "Your struggle is hopeless, prepare to die" style messages before you send them packing. Espescially Thrakkath.

You were supposed to cloak before entering the final area I believe.

I don't suppose you know how to use the cloak on the PS1 version?

(Bought it used, with no instruction manuel.)

Yep, you were right, unless I can find out which button is cloak, I'll have to sit around at nav 3 pressing buttons like a jackass until I figure out which one is cloak.

Gamefaqs.com has only PC faqs

Yes, I know. If you had read your map, you'd notice that a friend of yours has installed a cloak on your Excalibur.

Also, in the PC version you can't advance if you have any wingmen left. Kind of silly, but at least I got to repeatedly beat the crap out of one of the Kilrathi Aces until I sent Maniac home. (Maniac was even too stupid to die right...)

True, sorry. And Gamewinners is impressively unhelpful as well. Hell, by the time you read this, you'll have probably found the correct button by random chance.

According to wcnews, it's L1 + L2 + R1 + R2.
That's the wrong way to tickle Mary, that's the wrong way to kiss!
Don't you know that, over here lad, they like it best like this!
Hooray, pour les français! Farewell, Angleterre!

Ok, Is the Cloaking device already installed on my Exalibur, or do I need to pick it up somewhere? Because there's a confed signal on my mission map at the second combat area (going to the third waypoint) that seems to be very far away (I really can't tell what's what on that map, they must have done it real shitty on the PS1 version.)

Holding all L and R buttons makes you automatically go to the next waypoint.

If you can wait until tomorrow, my brother has a copy with the instruction manual at his house and I'll post it when I go visit him.

Thank you, that would be a big help.

UPDATE: My brother actually got rid of his copy some time ago, so I don't have access to the manual. Sorry.

I went for a search (because I had nothing better to do, I don't even have WC3 for Playstation...) and found the Cloak command.

"L1+R2"

Thank "Erkle" from the WC CIC Forums for that one. Now this information is displayed two places on the Internet...

Now go kick some Kilrathi butt! :)
