IV was my favorite. Most memorable story. First game to make me break down into tears (hey, I was 9 years old, cut me some slack).
VI had the graphical edge and gameplay and the story was certainly more epic, but Kefka was just too cartooney for me to take him seriously.
It has to be said, though, that Chrono Trigger is better than any of the Final Fantasies. Hands down the best console RPG of all time. Maybe even the best console game of all time in my book.
The BEST Final fantasy

Sort of. It was "Final Fantasy: USA" in Japan. Guess that shows their view of the American audience. Also keep in mind that the American FF2 was actually FF4 Easytype, a version of the game which had the difficulty toned down (weaker monsters, cheaper and more easily available Ethers, etc.).Dalton wrote:I heard that in Japan it was called FF: American Version or something.
On the main subject, however, I find FF6 to be my favorite FF game, enough so that I own both the English FF3 and the original FF6 in cartridge form. Anyone know if FF: Anthology's version of FF6's script is uncut? The original FF3US had every instance of the words "kill" and "die" excised by Nintendo of America's censor squad, along with the "Pub"s becoming "Cafe"s and a general toning-down of the language.

It wasn't quite Easytype. It was about halfway between the two (Easytype has even weaker enemies and has all the special abilities that FFII lacks)Datana wrote:Sort of. Final Fantasy VI is my favorite. No questions about it. The game just was just all around fantastic, wonderful story, great characters, and Kefka is the best villian of all time!
