Is there a fix for a firefox bug where when you quite the process will linger and prevent the default profile from being re-used?
I assume it's a common bug because I've seen it in earlier versions.

Did that, clicked end process, clicked yes, dialog box dissapears but hte process still remains. I think it might be a general windows thing about the way it tries to end processes. Oh well, I did find a temporary work around anyway.darthdavid wrote:Yeah. Happens to me when i'm surfing porn for some rason. Just hit ctrl-alt-delete, click the process tab, highlight the process that says "firefox.exe" and clic k end process.
I find firefox's profile locking so annoying that I have switched browsers (Galeon on Linux- Windows equivalent would be K-Meleon).

I occasionally had that problem under Windows, though I had no trouble killing the process.
Since switching to Linux I haven't that issue at all with either .8 or .9.
Personally I think they should do away with browser profiles. Unless I am mistaken Firefox stores all of your browser settings and bookmarks in the user's directory (home in Linux, Documents and Settings in Windblows) so the whole thing seems pointless.

On Linux with a dual monitor setup with seperate monitors, it is annoying.JediToren wrote:I occasionally had that problem under Windows, though I had no trouble killing the process.
