I feel the increasing urge to stab something. Well irregardless, this is the one of the stupidest things I've seen in a while and has caused me to conclude that the world is populated almost solely by bumblefucks. Maybe I should build a rocket, go to mars, and have an IQ test as part of the requirements in order to set foot on martian soil?

Hey, man, before games, they blamed all their problems on guns. Before that, they blamed all their problems on "that Devil Reefer". And before that, they blamed it on blacks. And before that, women. And before that, blacks again. Or Jews. Or liquor. Or heretics. Or the French. Or the British. Or the gods. Or demons, succubi, nymphs, temptations, gremlins, or whatever the hell else they can blame, other than themselves.

Here's a tip, parents: If your kid goes on a murder spree, chances are he woulda been a little psycho anyway.

Before video games, it was movies, rock and roll, and before those jazz. I think the solution to all this nonsense is clear: we need to invent something new for all the uptight weasel politicians to whine about. Once the new thing comes around adn some unparented spoiled psychotic boys go on a killing spree, they'll forget about games faster than the devil stopped playing the tenor saxophone.

One damned thought for Madame Dick-headson, Thompsonofafuckheadretard and the rest:

Not only are there many studies showing no connection, but that claiming that "connection" = "cause and effect" is moronic and simple-minded. "Connection" means that one variable is related to the other. That's it. It could be that violent kids, for example, just enjoy violent games. And, further, I'd be curious to see what percentage of buyers those kids are. Not to mention that a questionnaire foirmat, for example, is obviously easy to slant to the results you want, if you're not exactly honest.

Not to mention, that the most OBVIOUS test is against em' - statistics. What's the violent kids percentage for GTA3 out of it's buyers? %0.000001?

But no matter - if one can get cheap votes, what does a strong position matter?

I feel a sudden urge to chainsaw lawmakers....

It's the same argument that the anti-gun ownership movement has repeatedly made: "Guns make people dangerous", despite the fact that less than one-hundredth of one percent of all guns are ever used in a crime.

The Article wrote:And the most popular computer game of all time is Electronic Arts Inc.'s "The Sims," in which the player is virtually incapable of committing any act of violence whatsoever.
 That's one of the funniest lines I've heard since the last time I watched a video clip of Duane Gish. I once made a Sims house which had only one toilet, in the front yard. And then I invited company over. You could watch the pitiful little sims walking around in the front yard, pacing around, going towards the toilet and then chickening out. It was sick and twisted, and it's much sicker than, say, shoving a virtual Uzi in someone's virtual stomach and holding down the mouse button. I hear that you can also invite guests over and build walls around them so that they're trapped in a little closet until they die of starvation. That makes virtual incendiary grenades look clean!

Sickness isn't in the video game, it's in the person. Personally, I'd prefer to see many congressmen playing violent video games, since although it might inspire them to commit some violent act, it's probably a safer thing for some of those power-crazed sickos to do. My favorite part of the American two-house system is that it makes it harder for these Morons with Power (patent pending) to do things to us.

There is also the inescapable fact that the military uses video games to train its soldiers. A 2003 University of Rochester study found that young adults who played a lot of fast-paced video games showed better visual skills than those who did not.

There'a a lot of cool sick twisted things to do in The Sims. Everyone knows all the obvious ones, but one that I read on another forum was pure darkness!

This one player grew tired of having his Sim cook, so he "cultivated" another master chef in another house, invited this Sim over to his main Sims house to live, and trapped him in a small room in the kitchen, with a fridge, and a toilet, behind a state of the art stove. Then, he had that virtual "slave" cook for his main Sim for good!

Yes, yes, everyone, I know comic books and TV are in there somewhere. But it's still funnier to me that people used to blame the evils of the world on jazz (CS Lewis's The Pilgrim's Regress comes to mind), so I mentioned that.

Congressmen don't play violent videogames. They prefer to play with real peoples' lives instead.

I'm not sure what's more disturbing. Their idiocy or the fact that these idiots never seem to have any concept whatsoever of "limited government." Just anything they don't like gets them on a crusade to ban it.

Both are direct manifestations of their idiocy, so I'll go with "idiocy".

However, the lack of knowledge about the concept of limited government could be blamed on education deficiency, so I say we bring in retired drill sergeants to yell an explanation at students in, say, high school. And, of course, congressmen should listen, too. "DOES IT AFFECT YOU? NO? SO DON'T FUCKING BAN IT!" :)

At the very least, such laws should be implemented at state or local level. The federal government has no business sticking it's fingers into this (or many other things). At least moronic behavior will be localized.
