Also recommended is the model replacement pack that gives the game ut2k4 quality models.

On another note, it's best if you play this game single-player. The multiplayer mod is shit, to put it bluntly.

I wonder which is better- Rebirth, or this (seemingly Czech) texture pack?

System Shock was better than the sequel in terms of plot, I feel, but SSHOCK 2 is still a fucking awesome game.

Too bad I can't get my System Shock to run on my PC ...

Already downloaded it and can't play it. Using the necesssary patches to fix it loses the CD crack and requires the CD. That was a waste of seven hours....

Where does it say this game is now freeware? The game is not even listed in the freeware section.

It's not.

If it ever were, expect TTLG to know about it. They still have a big announcement about Shock 2 not being Abandonware.

It is.

It and number one have an excellent horror atmosphere and SHODAN is one mean AI bitch.

That and it isn't a frag fest does lend very well to the horror experience.

Its a shame its not as good as SS tho. Shame multi on SS2 is so broken, what with the unlimited respawns... But in the late game the whole skill system is broken anyway.

I'll have to try this tex pack; Rebirth seems to have died before it was finished.

It sounds good, but hot damn, 5 KBPS for a 200+Meg DL? Shit. That's gonna take like 8 hours.
Edit: I tried the option for restrictive firewalls and it's slightly faster. Still gonna take hours though.

System Shock 2 is not freeware and distributing a link to downloading it is against board rules.

You need to provide better proof before I will allow a link.

The appropriate Through the Looking Glass thread is linked concerning Irrational/Looking Glass' opinion on the issue. Official word is that SS2 isn't freeware, so this thread should really be locked and/or HOSed.
