List your massively upgraded old computer specs here if you have one- example would be a PII with 512MB of RAM, PC with all PCI slots filled, etc. Alternatively post a nice computer with a particular shitty part, such as a top of the line computer with a SB16 card (do they make new computers with ISA slots?). Flag interesting combinations with an asterisk
Mine:
Proc/RAM:
*P-II 450 with 512MB SDRAM -beats everyone else with a PII/PIII, and some with P-IV and Athlons in amount of RAM, and I can cannibalize more (Mobo may not recognize it though)
GPU:
RIVA TNT2- it sucks here
SCSI Card:
*Adaptec 2940
ATA-100 Card:
*Promise Ultra 100TX
Sound Card:
SB Live!
Ethernet:
D-Link RTL8139 based ethernet
No free PCI slots, may need to replace sound or ethernet with ISA versions to add second video card.
4 CDROM drives-
*12/10/32 SCSI Plexwriter
*SCSI Toshiba CDROM drive of unknown speed
8/4/32 ATAPI CD burner made by creative
ATAP 32X CDROM Drive
*ATA-100 40GB Western Digital HDD

One of the old comps we still have started off as a bare bones Intel Celeron 466Mhz with 32mb ram, 32x CDROM and no 3d capability at all. It now sits at having 96megs of RAM, dual 12mb Voodoo 2 cards linked in SLI and a 24x CDROM (the 32x broke and all I could salvage at the time was a 24x).
Noone I can think of has ever upgraded to only having 96 megs of RAM. Pretty much everyone went from from 32 to 64 and then to 128 and beyond, but not me!

My computer has gradually morphed from an NEC P2/350 with 64 megs of RAM in late 1998 to a custom built Athlon XP 1900+ with 512mb of RAM.
I only just recently swapped out the original 8 gig drive I'd been using as the OS drive for a 20 gig I was given by the school district (and in fact still have the drive here on my desk).
A few months ago I replaced the DVD-ROM drive from 1998 with a newer one (old one had issues with some DVDs, it was like it couldn't keep up... but then it was just finicky in general for some time).
I still retain and use the Winmodem from that old system. Aside from that everything else (including the case) has been gradually replaced; the biggest upgrade was a simultaneous CPU/motherboard/RAM upgrade about two years ago.
If I threw both of my TV tuner cards in, I'd have every PCI slot taken up. (though I can only imagine how badly my system would spaz out from that sort of combination).
Edit: And Icehawk, I think your system wins on account of you having SLI. That's simply badass.

*snicker* Ours went from a 486DX/33 to a K6-3 running at 500mhz.phongn wrote:One computer we had went from an i80486DX/33 all the way to a P55C/166 in stages through several years. It was kinda bizarre.
As for my system, the best I can do is:
Athlon XP 26(?)00
1024mb DDR
Radeon 9600pro
CD burner and shit
Glorious onboard sound
