They don't ask you to....
Devolution is quite as natural as evolution, and may be just as pleasing, or even a good deal more pleasing, to God. If the average man is made in God's image, then a man such as Beethoven or Aristotle is plainly superior to God, and so God may be jealous of him, and eager to see his superiority perish with his bodily frame.

They do for the quicktime versions of the trailer.

It's weird, the "skin" for the player-character in KOTOR2 is the same one I used for myself in the original. And it looks like a couple of your cronies are sporting Mandalorian armor (which I didn't find until the end of the first game).

Does this mean you actually get to start the game as uber as you left off in the previous one???

No- You start off with meager force powers (having been out of practice); and you don't have a lightsabre.

What I like is the flowing robes- finally! The Dark Side male version of the main character looked awesome.

So you play as the same character minus all the friends you had in the original?

Not sure about that, but I'd say it's a safe bet that you start out as a Jedi, or at least closer to being one than at the first game's beginning.

The trailer just serves to solidify the fact that I will definitely be getting this game.

EDIT: Vympel's got it. I guess it says that on the website (haven't checked that out fully yet). I don't think you're the same character. KOTOR 1 SPOILER TEXT: Lord Revan doesn't strike me as the type of guy who would continue doing the kind of grunt work you'll probably do in this game. END SPOILER. At least, that's what I think, I could be wrong.

Why do they refer to it as the 'old republic' when they are discussing it in the present tense :?:

My guess? Because it's really old. :P

Cock up, I guess. It is a promotional trailer Crown, not part of the ACTUAL storyline.

And the Jedi main character looks a LOT like my character skin from KOTOR 1.

To clarify, you're a new character, who served with Revan in the Mandalorian War. What happened to Revan in the intervening five years is explained in the game- at this point, all we know is that he returned to the Outer Rim.

There *are* reappearances from your old party, but most of your NPCs will be new. The only confirmed one, at this point, is T4.

Well at least this time the robes flow dammit.

Nice teaser and I like they are keeping the thought they presented that if you go Dark...so do your friends.

So I won't have a repeat of KoTOR where I go evil and have the people are either "Bad...BAD!!!" or "Eh, we work for ya."

Well, not all of your friends will follow you down the Dark Path. Some will leave, some may fight you, others will follow (I think you have a Jedi apparentice at some stage who apes you), and others will clap you on the back probably say "finally, you saw that evil will always triumph- because good is dumb." :)

And the best part of this game?

Its made by the same folks who made Planescape Tourment, so witty jokes and the option to do just about anything will probably be inculded

Hopefuly this will finaly be the first game were one can be evil... But Evil with STYLE not just Evil Raargh KILL ALL!

Jabba Evil = kill people with hired scum and Rancor pets, with a harem of sex slaves chained to a leash.

No offence but I wanna go Jabba evil if I want to go evil... :(

On other hand when the Emperor gave an oder his agents had obey it even after Palpatine was dead, now that's evil.

The thing that bugged me about KOTOR is that most of the acts of evil you could do were small time and some were downright petty, like [Force Persuade] Give me 10 credits". Yeah right. Whatever.
I really hope this game gives many opportunities for acts of really horrible, insidious evil.

That was at the beginning. Near the end of the game, it went into extreme amounts of fun. "No, I won't kill you Mission... but Zaalbar will."

Oh yes, that was an excellent moment. I want KOTOR 2 to have many, many more moments such as that. Maybe turning your party members against each other, pruning the worthy from the chaff. I'm sadistic that way.

You chose the white mullet-head too, eh? :)

Personally, I think there should be consequences for both choices. If you go light, the darker members of the party should turn on you and vice versa if you go the other way.

Awsome, thanks for the link. KOTOR has to be my favourite game. This second game is going to be even better by the looks of things.

I remember playing that part of the game several times just for the fun of telling mission that I was going to kill her or better yet that Zaalbar will. Mwuahahaha.
