Any Gamecubers here played Ikaruga?

Post by Galvatron »

After seeing the glowing reviews that Maddox and Penny-Arcade gave it, along with its favorable rating on RottenTomatoes.com, I'm dying to play this game.

The problem is, it's not being sold any more and those who do sell it new (I hate used games) now charge some $45-70 for it!

Does it live up to the hype?

Yes. Yes it does. It's very much worth it, but be prepared for a very hard game.

Debateable.

I have it for my DC and got it as a present for my GC.

The game is fun...obscenely hard, but is ONLY if your a hardcore shooter fan.

If so, then yes

If not...no.

It's actually the first game I got on GC. It's totally freaking amazingly awesome, BUT ... it's so intense and difficult that it'll burn you out after like fifteen minutes of play.
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

It's pretty cool (with good music), but if you're not some sort of savant with shmup games, it'll really start frustrating you.

And if you want to really tear your hair out, check out Imperishable Night.

Download a demo Here.

And here's a screenshot of the as-yet unreleased final version of some late-level bosses:

I don't have it, but I've played it at a friend's house before. It's pretty fun, and I hear you can beat the entire game without firing a single shot. You'll need a bit of practice if you want to advance to later levels though - is it fun? Yes. However, IMO, it's not worth the money if I can just borrow it from a friend. I'm gonna be saving up for HL2 and upgrades to go along with it, then maybe Starcraft: Ghost.
