IIRC, the Xbox doesn't have enough mojo to really run at 720p and 1080i natively -- doesn't it upsample? And you can get SPIDF pretty cheaply for PCs as well.

So, you could spend over a thousand on a high end PC so you can play something like five worthwhile exclusive games, and three of those will be RTS games, because that's the only mainstream genre the PC can claim to be its 'own' now.

Wait, wait, I wasn't saying the Xbox sucked or anything, only that a PC was typically superior in terms of hardware and that if you wanted to you could emulate the "big screen and audio" experience of a console.

My VAIO came with a built in SPDIF.
I don't use it, LOL

Anyway, very few people have ever run the XBox at over 640x480 since everyone's TV is 640x480 or below. Most games are designed for that resolution. It might lag- or stretch- to get higher res.

I never said consoles suck either. I love my GameCube.

Anyone who prefers the controller to mouse/keyboard is just delusional, I'm sorry. As to "near PC" graphics, I've seen an XBox play, and I haven't been impressed. The XBox pics of Doom3 are especially lame.

Every button I need I find by touch. I never need to look down and see if I'm on the right keys. And another thing, I NEVER have to worry about the Box lagging. It just never does. I find computer games will hitch when accessing the harddrive.

So get more that 128 Megs of Ram and thats not a problem

Speaking of every button I sure as hell know I can STOMP the worlds best console players in most Xbox games when you put them up agianst a PC user

Take Halo, grab yourself the tunneling software, and the ability for a single PC Sniper to hold off half a dozen Xbox users or beat the crap out of them with the pistol/shotgun/gernades is not even funny

Things get ever worse when you take a PC game and Console port it such as Medal of Honor, the stompage gets even worse

A PC users can move, turn, and aim, many times more accuratly than his Console using counterpart not to mention the lack of the Console users ability to use anything like auto weapon switching keybinds or gernade/switch binds that PC users have enjoyed since 96

I have 512 RAM and a 5400 RPM HD. It hiccups, trust me.

And I play a game type in Halo where there's cranked health and no shields with pistols, and I get all of my kills from headshots. The controller allows me to hold my gun steadier, and move it as fast as needed.

As for key-binding, no we can't do that, but we also never have the problem of hitting the wrong button, or having to move our hands back to the WASD keys. Everything is taken care of indepentent of moving.

Most of my issue with playing FPS games with a mouse is that it just feels more removed from a gaming experience, it reduces everything to a hyper-accurate point and click shooting gallery with immersion breaking turning speeds way outside of the physics of the rest of the game's mobs interacting with their gameworld. Basically, if I wanted to play point and click, I'd play Sam and Max...

Mice and keyboards are a utility for data entry, not an immersive gaming controller.
