X-Box Counter Strike

Post by Cal Wright »

I'm gonna make this brief and come back tomorrow to post more. Basically I picked this up because I loved Counter Strike on the computer, just not the little bitches that whined when you nailed them when they bunny hopped. Either way, I've got it on X-Box, and while I'm happy and content to just play the bots all damn day, I was wondering if anyone knew if you could go online with it not using XBox live, but just going through my regular broadband?

Yeah, I would think so. I know this won't be much help as it's been over a year since I did this, and don't remember the name of the website where you can play on their X-Box servers for various games. Maybe someone else can shed some light on what the website is for doing this, but, my friends and I used to LAN Halo on X-Box on the same LAN as a computer connected to the internet, and then we could meet people online, and play Halo with them using this service. You would advertise a game on this site, or look for someone else's game, when someone wanted to play you, this little chat box opened up, and you could chat with them about what game rules, the map, etc. that you wanted to do.

I remember that there was a lot of lag, the players were very good, and better than ones we had ever LAN partied with, and that there weren't many people who used this service. I also remember that it supported quite a few games, so maybe they do CS.

Sorry I don't remember the most important thing of where to go to do this. But, just answering your question that I'm sure you can, if you found this place that we used. Hopefully someone else around here has used it and can give you the URL.

the only way I know of to go online without xbox live is to mod your xbox and replace certain parts of the hard drive and chipset. I do not know the specifics or hows but I have a buddy who did this and he currently has about 1000 games saved on his hard drive everything from NES to sega to arcade games.....

There's actually a service called XBConnect that allows you to play System Link games online. It's a free (and legal) service, unless you sign up for the Pro version, and even then I think it's just a one time fee.

Counter-Strike is supported. So far, there are over 600,000 users, with hundreds of new accounts being created daily, so you shouldn't be wanting for games to play. I haven't checked it out yet, but it sounds great.

Kick ass, I will check that out and see how it is. Would be great to play online against people. CS looks great on the XBox. Way the hell better then the old version I have on computer. I wonder if they can keep the hackers and cheaters out.

I tried it out at a friends and it was ok. I guess I'm just used to the good old mouse and key board cuz it felt strang playing on a conrtoller, even when I made the controls like my Halo controls. It was fun though. That was the first CZ I had played and I really liked it.
