For most people, yeah, the cheaper price of the console makes sense. Many career adults generally don't have a problem upgrading their computer once a year, however.
There you have it. I'm a college freshman, so spending $300+ a year to upgrade someting on my computer is out of the question. I'd rather spend that money on the games themselves.

Most are...except Halo. :P

Seen the two...and somehow Bungie dropped the ball.

Hope for PCers Halo 2 works out much better.
Thats because and second party produced Halo on the PC not bungie
I know...god they dropped the ball on that particular conversion...

as for system freezing...so far only my GC has ever frozen. Once.

My freaking Sega CD hasn't frozen on me.

I'm a caveman. I haven't owned a console since the PS/1 and N64.

And because of that, I need to ask: are the RPGs for the PS/2 (FFX, FFX-2, Xenosaga, etc) now available for the Gamecube? I'm heavily leaning toward GC as my next console, but I like playing RPGs too...

Please...if that's even begun to be old.

Now if you said Pong...then I'd agree.

Nope those three are PS exclusives.

For most part barring the Sports games and a couple others...each system has relativily it's own library.

The PS2 has the best and laregest current library of RPGs, although XBox is producing some good one's soon, along with several standouts already (KOTOR, Morrowind). GC really doesn't have that many, or that many good ones.

Extraordinarily debateable since I know a few people who would place Skies of Arcadia over anything the PS2 has to offer.

Of the three...this can be said.

PS2 largest, GC having the seond, and the X-Box having a few PC like RPGs.

Sorry, I'm not well versed in GC games (I don't havea Cube). But XBox has Fable and Jade Empire coming out, and PS2 has the FF's and GTA's.

I got a GameCube in the fall of 2001, and my brother got a PS2 during Christmas of 2002. I wanted the GameCube for it's good exclusive titles, and the PS2 for game franchises that weren't available for the GameCube.

Got neither. My last console was a NES.

First off, I don't think I've ever locked a console up. EVER. I got a Dreamcast to lagg like there was no damn tomorrow, and managed to get enough enemies in Wind Waker to come at me that it turned into a slide show, but I have never, ever, locked a console up. However, my PC crashes, freezes and corrupts on a regular basis, just by looking at it. This is after a fresh format and install of applications.

Now, I have a new problem. I had perfectly running games on 98SE, and now that I popped XP upgrade on, Galaxies is fucked up. It's far cheaper and easier to buy a next gen system of my choice then to try and keep this computer up to run games. Yeah, I do more than play games on my computer, like going to message boards, and, more, message boards. Now a lot of the console games look as good as they do on the computer. Doom 3 is the first PC game I've gotten where it might not be matched on the console.

PS had Final Fantasy, the only console series worth playing. I know very few people will agree with me here, but this is an opinion poll. So there.

PeeCee. Despite the fact that my PC is slower than an Xbox, I still think it's a better gaming machine (not the latest games, but Ground Control, Homeworld Cataclysm, Age of Empires II, Shogun Total War, FreeCiv (clone of CivII) are still fun to play (notice that they are all RTS/RTT/Turn based strategy, which are not usually available on consoles- for me, FPS gets boring w/o multiplayer due to me having dialup).
