Service Pack 2 / Office 97 problems

Post by Sokartawi »

Recently I installed ProblemPack2 at work where someone insists on using the horror that is windows XP :x

Anyway after we did that, Office 97 applications suddenly do no longer start, Word and Office just freeze with a grey screen.

Any solution for that? Microsoft doesn't seem to have any on their site.

Upgrade Office? Seriously, 97 is old now, and I don't think MS has much concern for supporting it, given that they're desperate to ditch Win98 as it is. If Office Update works with 97, then you could try that.

I'm still wondering where all these SP2 problems come from. I run XP Pro SP2 on every machine on my network with no problems at all.

Horror that is XP? XP Home maybe, but XP Pro is excellent. I've been running it on several machines since its release with no problems (other than a hardware failure on one).

Thanks Sharp-Kun, didn't know there was that update site for office since windowsupdate and the MS site didn't say anything about it. Downloaded update and works fine now, thanks a lot.
