I got my brother's old computer and ran a spyware checker on the thing... and all sorts of crap showed up. I don't want to bugger about with anything, so could someone have a look at this and tell me what to kill, please?

Also run the latest version of spybot search and destroy as well as adaware.
I recommend using the downloadable spybot updates here to insure you have the latest updates when you start scanning.
I know adaware and/or spybot will handle "MyWay Search Assistant", and if it doesnt get back to us.
If you need help rebiulding the TCP/IP stack after some program has clobbered it, I recommend this article (print it out from another computer):
How to determine and recover from Winsock2 corruption.
The bit you want is right at the end.
I've had a few computers at work which required that to get them back on the network so I could connect to a network share to copy across the utilities I needed to use to finish cleaning it up.
