MGS3 stuff

Post by Vympel »

Don't know if this has already been posted, but the MGS3 website has posted up the characters, including the boss characters that Snake/Big Boss will kick the arses of, Cobra Unit.

These include:

The Boss (that ugly chick who kick's Big Boss' arse at some point in the game, but who hopefully we get to kill later)

The Sorrow. No idea what this dude does.

The Fury. Jetpack dude.

The End: obviously a grizzled Soviet sniper from the Great Patriotic War, he's packing a Mosin-Nagant 1891/30 sniper rifle and ... a parrot.

The Fear: packs a crossbow

The Pain. Killer bees!!!

It also details the Shagohod, the new "metal gear". The specs are a bit wonky, armament wise- it has DShKM machine guns for both anti-infantry and AA work, a "9K112 Kobra" SAM, which is actually an ATGM designation, and about 15 years early for 1961, and an SS-20 SABRE IRBM, also far too early.

And remember the golden rule of Metal Gear: Do not believe anything story related until you have the game.

Kojima is playing with our minds... again. Cold War, Naked Snake, 1960s, and now too modern equipment for that era. This one is going to be wierd.

Still going to buy it, though...

The whole game may not be set in one time period, it certainly looks like the initial 'mission' to rescue Sokolov is just the first 'chapter' of the game, and that Snake will have to go back in to do.... something. Cover up for his previous fuckup possibly.

He will, it seems, also have one of his eyes cut out. (the newest trailer shows him in a cell with one bloodied socket)

Are they going to make a Xbox version of this game, does anyone know?

No Xbox version initially, at least. Don't know if they plan to do as they did with MGS2, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Well, if you remember how they made money with MGS 2, I would not be so suprised if they released the game on Gamecube and Box later. It's a pity Kojima and Konami have not made contract with Microsoft to make the game first on Xbox. They could make it look and sound better...(okay, i am a kind of anti-playstationist... :P )

Hmm, the new MG does seem quite spiffy. Good old Soviets, I do love their stuff. Remember, Vym, the Soviets didn't have huge nuke lobbing tanks back then, so expect some timeline changes with the tech and events. ;)

I'd like to hear more poltwise, but at this stage it'd be far too misleading. Remember how we all thought MGS2 would take place on a single tanker or some of NYC and with Snake as the main character?

I'm hoping, above all, this sheds more light on the Patriots more than anything.
