Considering buying a DVD burner
The prices are looking pretty good and I've got a fair number of videos I want to back up so I can free up some space on my harddrive.
Any recommendations towards the manufacturer and features?

Actually I've managed to find one for $115 Canadian ($137.44 after S&H, taxes and insurance) which seems like a good deal. Another plus is that it's black so it'll match my case =)The Kernel wrote:Pioneer DVR-A08XL if you've got the money to spend. 16x DVD+R, 4x DVD-DL make for the all around best performing DVD burner on the market today. They aren't the cheapest option, but you get what you pay for.

That's an excellent deal, I recently purchased one at Fry's for $160 US which is obviously quite a bit more.Hobot wrote:Actually I've managed to find one for $115 Canadian ($137.44 after S&H, taxes and insurance) which seems like a good deal. Mine's OEM mind you, so that's probably why.The Kernel wrote:That's an excellent deal, I recently purchased one at Fry's for $160 US which is obviously quite a bit more.Hobot wrote:Actually I've managed to find one for $115 Canadian ($137.44 after S&H, taxes and insurance) which seems like a good deal. The Pioneer is ~ $90 US according to Hobot's estimate, so that's not really that big a difference to pay for the quality of a Pioneer drive. Besides, I haven't read a review of this NEC drive yet and while I know the Pioneer has excellent overall quality, not all burners are built equal.Vertigo1 wrote:I'm gonna piss you off The Kernel by posting this:
