Just received Dreamcast in mail, but game won't load
So, I have Marvel Vs Capcom 2 and my Dreamcast now. I plug the DC in, set the time in the VMU, and pop the game in. It searches for a few seconds then tells me to insert the game disk. WTF. The disk is in there =/
The game disk has some scratches but nothing that should cripple the game, but the DC has a big crack in one of the grooves across the lid. I don't know if this is the problem. I can get to the bootup menu, but the game simply will not load.

"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."

Can light enter the crack into where the cd spins? And is the motor spinning worth a damn?
If theres a crack try running some tape over it to block the light from entering.. it worked on a cd walkman i had once after i dropped it.. not the same thing but its worth a try.

Sweet jesus on a stick! Hey isnt that what we call easter?
Light shouldn't be getting in. The CD will spin a little bit once I close the lid, but it always stops.

It may just be a defective disk. Its happened to me with Sonic adventure. I would try another game in your DC or try the disk in another DC.

this might help too
Or you could try to burn a bootdisk for your Dreamcast and switch disks after booting.Q:When I put a game in, my Dreamcast wont read the disk, why?
a:Usually this is caused by an out of sync laser lens, its hard to fix. Your best bet would be to buy another system, try Ebay or local pawn shops, they are usually cheap. If your very patient you could try this method. How to adjust the laser lens in the Sega Dreamcast

Yeah, I knew a guy in highschool whose SA disk did that right after they came out. Never happened to any of my disks, though, but I never owned that game either.Tech^salvager wrote:It may just be a defective disk. Its happened to me with Sonic adventure. I would go to www.dcemulation.com and go to their Message boards and ask the question there. Its site about Emulation on the DC if you didn't know lol .
I fixed the problem by screwing with the laser's calibration or something like that~ Wasn't that hard to do.
MvC2 is awesome

Dreamcast sometimes has a problem with reading discs, but in my experience, it's usually with burned discs. I've found that if you turn the DC upside down, it reads better.
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'
