I'm downloading it right now, and I need to know a few things about it.
First, how well does it handle trojans? I recently got hit by some bad trojans/spyware that really fucked up my ability to get on the internet...I eliminated them with my antivirus software and an anti-spyware program, but after I did the modem wouldn't connect whenever I got online. Hijackthis said I needed spybot S&D to get rid of it completely! By that time I couldn't get online. The only thing I could do was format the HDD and start over. The computer worked fine otherwise.
Oh BTW, the spyware in question was from Newgrounds. Just a warning.
Does it automatically block that stuff from getting on your system?
Or is there some antivirus/antitrojan program I need for it?
If so, is it freeware, o a shareware program?

I can't comment specifically as I just performed a virus/trojan scan and cleared them off but I'm not sure how many of those were from before I started using firefox.
I will say however that I no longer suffer under pop-up hells (you know what I'm talking about.. where they open new ones as fast as you can close them), and I've never had strange porn links show up in my firefox menus like I've had happen a couple of times with IE.

Firefox will not download or install anything automatically. IE will.
Firefox blocks MOST popups. However, be aware that some subversive spam sites (like aol.com) have developed methods for getting around popup blocking by using javascript trickery. IE does not block any popups whatsoever without companion programs.
Firefox is small, tight and secure, IMO.

Not allow to download freely Firefox does indeed. My favorite lyrics site would at times try to send me malicious software but they never get through because there's always a prompt to download it or not.

Well, so far so good. It looks like everything I've heard about Firefox is true. 
It worked on Newgrounds without a problem, ecxept I had to redownload macromedia flash...and did so the other day, for IE. Oh well, long as it works. Thanks for the info.

Firefox has an automatic update system which third-parties may use to install extensions and plugins. However, you must first add the site onto a whitelist and even after that there is a three-second delay to ensure that the user does not just blindly click.
IE6 on XP SP2 has management functions to manage ActiveX controls and it will now prompt you as to whether you wish to install them. Furthermore, it has a good popup blocker.
IE6 on W2K3 is locked down tightly and if you want to do anything more than just render HTML you'll have to whitelist a website. I do not know of the ActiveX management or popup blockers have been ported over from XP SP2.
