So....question. I've got a laptop. A wireless router. An ADSL modem. A Japanese DSL connection. I plug the phone line and the LAN cable into the modem. I plug the other end of the LAN cable into the router. My laptop gets "excellent" signal strength.
And yet I can't access the Internet.

Do you use anyform of encryption?
If so make sure that all settings in the laptop matches those on the router.
IE wep or WAP keys
Is the SSID correct?

Ok. So this is what happens. Please help if you can.
I try to configure the router (a D-Link DI-824) on my Dell laptop. The ADSL modem is hooked into the router with an Ethernet cable. A second Ethernet cable links the router and the laptop. I pick PPPoE connection when it asks me (that's what an ADSL connection is, right?), and when it asks me for PPPoE account name I input either my user ID or "connection user id". They're two different things, but I've tried it w/ them both. When it asks for "password" I put in my ADSL account password. I then choose to restart the device. It goes to a page where it says "device is restarting" and then a box appears saying "continue." I click it.
I still cannot connect to the Internet, even though the computer is getting the signal to the modem.
What the devil do you think the problem w/ the configuration is?

Ah, ok. So what do I pick? Dial-up? Dynamic? Static? "Others ("PPTP and "BigPond Cable")?"
