How dangerous is resizing partitions, and does anyone know any good programs (the one I have is annoying to use because it installs itself as a boot loader that only works for 30 days and then refuses to boot) for it?
I remember when I resized one of my other PC's that I didn't care about, it warned that I could lose data (I always assumed it was one of thse, "If something unlikely just happens to occur, you can't sue us" disclaimers), but I never did. Just how safe is it, exactly? Is it highly unlikely to lose my data, or is there a good chance?
My main PC shipped with a weird partitioning scheme, with a 15 GB C drive and 100 GB D: drive. I reduced the D: drive to 80 and gave 20 to Linux. Now I want to make D: smaller, and C: larger, because of programs that auto-install to C:...
My C partition only has 100 MB free (thats why I need to resize). I can't even defrag. Is it safe to partition resize?

Partition Magic shold work for that.
I have used it for that sort of job many times and no loss of data yet, but there is a first for everything.

I've used the mandrake tool (whichever that is) to resize and I havn't had any problems. However, you must defrag before you do it, and still back up just in case.
Beware Windows. Linux Comes.
