Quick Firefox question

Post by The Cleric »

I'm getting a new HD for my laptop, and I'd like to backup all of my Firefox stuff (bookmarks, passwords and the like). Any ideas how?

All your Firefox settings are in Documents and Settings/<Username>/Application Data/Mozilla and its subfolders (where <Username> is your Windows login). Assuming that you're replacing the old drive with a new one and starting from a fresh install of Windows, just back up everything in that folder and copy it back over to the same location on your new hard drive (under your username there, of course) before you install Firefox, and it should take care of itself. Note that Application Settings is a hidden folder, so you'll have to have the "view hidden files" setting on in Explorer to see it. If you want to make the profile smaller, you can delete the Cache folder, which makes up a large bulk of space in the profile.
