[KotOR2] Character Design
I just picked up The Sith Lords and I have been thinking about how I am designing my character.
Is it better to go with high Dexterity as opposed to high Strength? Strength does govern To-Hit and Damage bonus, but then there is Weapon Finesse: Lightsaber which can be used to give the Dexterity bonus on attack rolls. So then the only advantage I can see with Strength is that it gives bonuses to damage. But don't Jedi naturally get bonuses to damage while using lightsabers? So is it really worth it to pump Strength?
I also had a question about Force powers. Is Force Body worth getting? Force Points, for me in the first game, were always pretty short so I was thinking about combining that with Drain Life.

Str is still better because it gives damage and killing the opponent faster is better then having you dodge better.
Believe me...armor is pretty nice in this game...and Enough Jedi powers enhance that.
Force Body is pretty cool...if you're a Consular. If not...screw it. Even in conjunction with Drain Life it doesn't affect the big baddies fast enough...and believe me near the end...your lightsaber abilities become GODLIKE...even if you're a Jedi Consular/Master.
If you're a Guardian/Weapon Master.......let's just say with Speed you're doing around 70-80 per hit...add Master Flurry and Speer, and two sabers maxed....nothing, and I mean NOTHING stands before the blur o light you become.

Thanks for the information, I was strangely worried about screwing up my character early on.Ghost Rider wrote:<snip>

No sweat...and believe me...you will be amazed at the end how much more bad ass you get. There are shitloads of items that raise stats...I had 18-20's for every stat....because of this.Crom wrote:Thanks for the information, I was strangely worried about screwing up my character early on.Ghost Rider wrote:<snip>

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you need to have a high Constitution to use Implants to up your stats?Ghost Rider wrote:No sweat...and believe me...you will be amazed at the end how much more bad ass you get. Wow, I'm glad you told me that, though. It's a relief to know that late game a lot of stats can be buffed. KOTOR seemed to have a few items that raised ability scores but they seemed pretty rare, unless you count the Jedi Robes of Ueber that you could get on the Star Forge.

With an 18 Constitution, I would had nearly 30's for Str and mid twenties for the other stats.
Believe me...a lot of obnoxious stuff out there, and according to a bunch of boards I didn't even find the BEST stuff.

can you reccomend a starting stats level ? I kinda spread them out evenly but then took one or two points from charisma, wisdom, and intelligence and poured them into strength.

I put for myself basically 14's in Wisdom, Charisma, and Intelligence.Death from the Sea wrote:can you reccomend a starting stats level ? I kinda spread them out evenly but then took one or two points from charisma, wisdom, and intelligence and poured them into strength.
With 14 Str and 12 Constitution...Dexterity for me was only 10.
Worked out well enough.
Mostly did this so I would get a bit of Bonus on Skills, and Force power, and still have something to back up anything physical, since I lean more towards healing then Armor.

33 str on my Guardian/Weapon Master and that's with all the stat points I used to get my CON up so I could get some decent implants.
And yes your saber powers do get godly. Force Enlightment + Dual Sabers = PWNED!
It depends on your character type though. The Finesse feat is great when a primarily blaster based character goes Jedi.

To get an idea at the end of the game I really felt like the quote in "I'm gonna get you sucka"
All of you against me?
I'm the master of Karate, Kung-fu, Ju-Jitsu, and a whole bunch of shit you ain't never heard of.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

How where do you get prestige classes?

Unless you want the character to use blasters, go with strength over dexterity.
For my main character, strength was the only attribute I ever leveled up. All my other Jedi characters I used wisdom, my non-Jedi melee characters got strength, and my non-Jedi gunslingers (and robots) got dexterity.

And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

Some things I have figured out...
The BAB progression of all the Jedi classes are the same, this is a major departure from the D20 version of the classes. The only real advantage that a Jedi Guardian has over a Jedi Consular are feats and vitality.
Strength is damned near worthless, it is much easier to stick with a ranged weapon or get Finesse than waste your valuable attribute points on a stat that really won't matter as time goes on.
Get at least 1 point of Security so that your main character can open the minor locks that you find all over the place, otherwise you have to bash open a container and possibly destroy some valuable contents.
When using Workbenches or Lab Stations, make sure you put all your skill boosting items on a single character that is good at it and use that one.
Get the Force Valor power, no matter your alignment. You can use this to boost all your stats before using workbenches, labs, or just trying to get smart enough to decipher a code.
The Jedi Consular seems to be the most powerful class in my opinion, especially if you go dark. The Jedi Guardian is second, the quantity of feats can turn you into a combat blender. The Sentinel was my initial favorite, but as the game progressed I realized that he was second-best at everything, he sucked at combat and his force powers were easily resisted.
Of Light and Dark, the darkside is by far the more powerful of the two. A darkside consular can solve almost any combat situation with the quick application of Horror/Choke/Lightning quicker and more efficiently than a light-sider can. Though they are poor healers, you will find that if your enemies die within seconds of seeing you, you really don't have to worry about it.

Dex is overrated if for nothing else...guns are still not worth an extra feat to simply do what Str does naturally. Finesse is only good in that it allows High Dex character compete with High Str characters.
Somehow between the two, I give Dex by those who are inclined, and forget strength...but between the two...wasting a feat where I could be using it for Cross skills or something I want...is just a waste in the end.
Having +4 armor doesn't mean squat in the end.
Also...I learned just one in security blows unless you TAKE people with high security with you, this one still has a couple flaws that you do have to be rather good at a lot of things.
Consular is nice in many situations except I have rated the time between my friends Consular/Sith Lord vs Sentinel/Weapon Master....there maybe 10 seconds difference.
Not that much in comparison. Honestly I say it's the presitage class that make the game...your intial just is what you want in HP(Guardian), Skills(Sentinel), or Force Power(Consular) afterwards the Presitage easily eclipse anything the regular class even tried at.
As for which side trumps which...Dark side has more physical...but with Force Mediation and Force Push...I can cremate Rooms on hard. The last area was a trial to see where the hell was that last boss.

Indeed, I'm in the Trayus Academy and I'm seeing my uber strength bonuses payoff (I've got a +12 bonus in strength). With my two pimped out sabers (both silver now) + Force Enlightenment + Battle Meditation I'm essentially a walking woodchipper (it helps that I'm a light master and so get +3 STR). I'm dropping the sith assassins and dark Jedi I run into with single normal attacks, nevermind flurries or critical strikes. Surrounded by about a half dozen guys, 2 with lightsabers? No problem since I'm a walking woodchipper and no blaster I've found can found, even the ones I've modded the hell out of, can compete for sheer damage with my lightsabers (18-56/30-58 respectively) especially since one regular melee strike gets me 4 hits when I'm buffed.
It also helps that I've got the force jump feat from being a guardian.. I can shoot right across a room and into melee with whatever I want to kill instead of having to hoof it.

Pretty much...I mean I'm sorry when I got some good criticals with my twin sabers of Doom in one particular Flurry with Battle Mediatation and Force Enlightenment...I CLEAVED the first boss.
And I mean cleave...Him pretty much going from Full health to Zero.
He had his healing trick but after that I was "Yeah...so it'll 2......maybe 3 flurries before I kill your sorry ass instead of the Pimp daddy 1."
Honestly Force Enlightment makes up for any loss of that the Light side gets offensively...having all three activated in one button...just allows me to do what I do best...slice and dice.
