Daikatana- Freeware!

Post by DPDarkPrimus »

And no, not that Daikatana either! A different Daikatana!

Yup, apparently there was a version of Daikatana that was developed for the Game Boy Color, but was never released because of the... lackluster reception of the PC version.

Anyways, Romero put up a teeny little download with the full game... for free! He even links to an emulator to play it with, if you don't have one already.

Here's a little background on the game, with a link to download it.

It's pretty fun.

Long ago in a distant land, I, Aku, the shape-shifting Master of Darkness, unleashed an unspeakable evil,
but a foolish samurai warrior wielding a magic sword stepped forth to oppose me. Before the final blow
was struck, I tore open a portal in time and flung him into the future, where my evil is law! Now, the fool
seeks to return to the past, and undo the future that is Aku...

Gamespot say it was released in June 2000. They were also kind enough to give it a 7.0 at review time (the PC version getting 4.6, and the 'why are we even bothering' N64 version 3.7)
