Greatest single player game mission

I remember a shipbattle with Seadogs. I was an "honest" trader, transporting a big load to one island to another which would give me very good profit. I also didnt saved for a while. Suddenly I get intercepted by an enemy frigate.
Compared to the frigate I had a piece of shit myself (few and inferior cannons, low speed, low crew) and I try to run away from the fight (I always lost previous encounters with my ship but I could always load the game and retry, but since it was a while i saved, stakes were high) . The frigate doesnt back off tough and being faster + stealing my wind he kept coming closer and closer, trying board me.
The whole time I had to maneuver so he couldnt get past me. He kept ramming against my backside, giving me a short speedboost but also hard to keep control. Luckely my ship had 2 light cannons at his back so after a 100 shots or so with chained cannonballs I damaged his sail enough in that way both or speeds were about the same. After some 100 grapeshots cannonballs I decimated its crew and now I could board him. After a near win I got myself a brandnew frigate, perfect for lucrative pirating. Battle took like 30 stressfull minutes but the reward made it all good
Man I have to reinstall seadogs now

So...a frigate, presumably with chasers of its own, rammed your ship for half an hour instead of blowing you to kindling. Or instead of altering course, coming alongside, and broadsiding you into next week.
...So much for game AI.

He did came a few times alongside to open fire tough, fucked up my ship pretty bad. I wanted him to ram me, better then comming alongside me since it was he who wanted to board me instead of completely annihilate me
it probably wasnt an half hour also, but it looked that way
But its true, a human player probably whooped my ass but it was not like it was a walk in the park.

Turn, chain broadside. Turn again, fire second salvo. Reload, fire grape. Board.wautd wrote:He did came a few times alongside to open fire tough, fucked up my ship pretty bad. It's not like it would be HARD
Hey, I always got beaten by a frigate before. Fregates are evil me tells ya. I admit, I won this one because of poor AI but it still was bloody hardPeZook wrote:Turn, chain broadside. The Green Sabre from GTA: SA, just for the story value. Reuniting the Families from the same game, because that was damned beautiful.

D-day hands down (Medal of Honor:Frontline)
actually most of frontlines missions were awesome
rising sun was just trying to hard
Halo2 with the bridge, the rest of the game sucked

Oh, my absolute favorite CoD mission: Pavlov's House. The sheer franticness of fighting off hundreds of Germans and trying to hold this wrecked apartment building is awesome. Hard as hell, but awesome.

Nobody has mentioned Independence War yet. The grand finale when you ram the loyal Dreadnought into King's ship was emotional because the ship had come to be like a person. I also heartily enjoyed the mission where you ram the hidden base with the superfreighter.

There's one mission in Mechwarrior 2 (which itself was a truly great game) where your objective is to find and scan one particular building - and level the rest of the city. Simply beautiful. We need more missions like that.
