Having Internet Problems, need help.

Starting yesterday afternoon, my computer has been doing wierd stuff with the net. First of all, whenever I try to access a page with firefox, it tells me it can't connect to the page. When I tell it to do so two or three more times, it finally will. Doing this in Internet Explorer has the same results. Pages that do load, don't load completely and images and what not are missing. It's really getting annoying because some pages won't access no matter what and repeatedly refreshing is driving me nuts.

I've used both Spybot SD and Hijack this and cleared out everything that even remotely looked like spyware.
I've scanned for viruses (although my definitions are somewhat out of date. Damn Norton subscription) and came up empty.
I've cleared my temporary internet files and cookies.

If anybody could help me, it would be greatly appreciated.

*edit* had to refresh five or six times just to post this...Wtf....

be sure to run ad-aware as well. as it catches some things spybot might miss.

Do you know for sure that the problem is with your computer, or is it possible the problem is with your ISP? I had some problems with my Internet once and it turned out my ISP's DNS servers had gone down. Your problem doesn't sound like a DNS issue, but it would be nice to pinpoint whether the difficulty is with your PC or with your ISP.

Well wouldn't you know it. It was my ISP. I was freaking out for nothing. Thanks for your help anyway.

Yes, if you get problems like that, it's usually a problem with your connection. And that usually leaves the ISP or your method of connecting to the ISP. And usually, the reason your ISP would become unresponsive is high traffic (easily identified, because it happens at around the same times every day,) a DOS attack against your ISP (fairly rare,) and your ISP performing network maintenance (usually your ISP will have a help/support site which will announce these so you can plan in advance.)
