HW2: PDS 5.0 is out

Post by phongn »

After much beta testing and cramming far too many weapons on too small a surface area, HW2: PDS 5.0 is out. New toys for both sides to play with are available along with the introduction of scenarios to fight in. And yes, Shep, the Objective Interim Naming and Description System still seems to be in usage. Oh well.

Grab it here; the official site has it as a .BIG file so you can easily install or uninstall it without interfering with your other mods (like Warlords). I'm not sure how well it plays with various mods like the one that removes unitcaps, though.

Christ, how many ships are they going to add to that monster of a mod?

EDIT: Just played through a round. It's pretty nice, and very nicely pretty - sure does make my Geforce 4 choke in some spots. Some of the sounds, however - notably the sound of the Hiigaran battlecruiser's main guns - are quite lackluster thanks to some ruthless compression on somebody's part.

*looks around sheepishly*
Um, eh, I don't suppose anyone knows where I can get a MAC link for that Mod?

The BIG files are platform-independant but you'll have to run it from the command line, IIRC.

Pity I can't plaster those mini-missile launchers on the back of ships anymore, they were quite useful for antimissile fire :(
