HELP! GIF problems

Post by Darth Sephiroth »

I recently was given a desktop by a friend when I got cable (a gift so that I could get Internet Access with a cable modem rather than paying big bucks for a cable modem for my laptop. But the damn thing doesn't view animated GIF's as animated, any suggestions on how to get it to do so?

That is a problem??? I would say a blessing!

Anyway what OS do you use?

What browser do you use?

Do the gif animate in MS fax and picture viewer? (if using windows)

This doesn't make much sense at all as written, I'm afraid. A cable modem is a cable modem, regardless of the type of system it's hooked up to; there is no specialized "laptop cable modem." If you mean a broadband router, however, the built-in firewall is probably freezing GIFs. Simply log in and adjust the firewall settings -- you'll need to refer to the user manual for the IP address to point your web browser to for that (probably 192.168.x.x or something along those lines). If it does this even when on dialup, then there is a filter in place on the desktop itself that is freezing GIFs; for instance, Proxomitron does this by default.

The computer is Windows XP, and I was saying that I got it because I needed something that could handle a cable modem/broadband router/whatever because my laptop didn't have the correct port and it is an ultralight so to get one it would cost quite a bit.

But GIF's don't animate at all, I haven't really done anything to it, but I would like to be able to see animations. For a firewall I've got eTrust EZ Firewall, and it's not being helpful for being modified. But the computer won't even let me view them if I try to Right Click save as option and try to view the from there
