I'm going to be buying a new monitor...

Post by Butterbean569 »

As I posted on these forums a month ago or so, my last monitor was....fried. In one week, I'll finally get my long anticipated first paycheck of the summer. First thing to buy: A new monitor.

I should be getting about 450 bucks for my first paycheck, and am willing to dedicate about 200 of that to a monitor (plus or minus 25 dollars). Therefore, boys and girls, what's the best monitor I can get for that (or less)? It being flatscreen doesn't really matter much...I just want the biggest screen and the highest quality picture I can get for the money. If it weighs 50 pounds, so be it. I dunno much about monitors...but I think the best non-flat are CRT's? What's the biggest I can get for about 200?

Any tips/info/links would be swell :)

For ~$220, you could get a refurbished decent-quality 21" CRT. Availability isn't a given, though, and shipping would probably be ghastly for something that weighs ~70 pounds.

New, you could get a 19" monitor. It's how much my viewsonic G90fb cost, which is a very good monitor I've found. Lets me run it at 1600x1200@77Hz.
