Hmm, BitTorrent is going almost insanely slow, although I don't think regular downloads are being affected. It seems like our router's firewall is trying to show us who's boss.
Looking stuff up on BT's site, I think I've found a way of having BT bypass the firewall, but it seems rather complicated to tackle right now, being so early/late in the AM. I think I'll do it tomorrow after figuring out how to do that security update.
The only thing that pisses me off is that they didn't bother to actually send a physical manual with the router. Instead I downloaded a PDF manual off of Amazon, but I REALLY shoudn't have to do shit like that, it just makes it that much harder and more complicated...
It would help if I knew what the hell I was doing. This shit is all so brand-new to me, and I'm not the best with computers, anyway. It makes me so nervous to be almost on the verge of puking...

You need to do port forwarding to use BitTorrent. Right now all the BT requests are being dropped/blocked since your router has no idea where to send them. Thus, since you aren't really uploading anything the rest of the BT swarm is choking you.
You might also want to try BitComet as your BT client; it is known to work well with NAT routers (which you have).
