You should try Battle for Wesnoth. I'm not sure if I'd hold it up against some of the other games mentioned in this thread, but it's free, so if you don't like it all you've lost is the time it took to download it.
"Stop! No one can survive these deadly rays!"
"These deadly rays will be your death!"
- Thor and Akton, Starcrash
"Before man reaches the moon your mail will be delivered within hours from New York to California, to England, to India or to Australia by guided missiles.... We stand on the threshold of rocket mail."

Totally forgot about that. Yeah, it was a damn cool game.Acidburns wrote:weemadando wrote:Soldiers: Heroes of WW2 is good, but it can get a touch frantic...
Oh, I just remember a real great one! Incubation, by Blue Byte. That was pretty sweet, and good 3D graphics for the time. Anyone else remember it?
The X-Com and Jagged Alliance (don't underestimate JA1 either) series stay my favorites tough. Probably because you also had to maintain a base between the battles
While not the best, for me it was still good enough to finish it (probably because few games like that come out)Has anyone here played UFO Aftermath? I heard it was pretty poor....
