Problem with Homeworld: Cataclysm
For some reason, whenever I try to play this game, whenever it goes past the Sierra and Relic intros, it just crashes and reverts to the desktop. Has anyone else encountered this problem trying to install the game on a newer computer?

you should actually patch every game you install. It takes care of problems like games crashing while your in the middle of a battle.
Yes I did have the same problem with my copy of HWC.

Are you running Win XP? If so, that's the problem. You just need to change the compatability
Right click on you HW:C icon and click on properties. Go to the tab that says compatability. Click on the box that says "Run this program in compatabilty mode for:". On the pull down menu just under that Windows NT 4.0 (Service Pack 5).
Edit: On second reading of your symptoms, this probably isn't the problem. If it was, it would at least let you on to the menu. Do the patch idea.

That Might be the problem, It had it set in compatibility mode for Windows 95. I'll give it a shotTemjin wrote:Are you running Win XP? If so, that's the problem. You just need to change the compatability

98 or NT4S5 would be better, though patch first and patch often, though at this point the only patches available will be online.Darksider wrote:That Might be the problem, It had it set in compatibility mode for Windows 95.
