Can you change the default?

Post by Mr Bean »

Quick to be locked when answered question but google turns up nothing.

Is there anyway to trick windows into setting the default install path for programs for anything except C:?
You know when install programs it always defaults to C:, can I change this in the Reg or anywhere?

Some programs allow you to custom install and manually select other drives than C, but the way most Windows programs work it's a necessity they be installed in C or else the Registry will be all kinds of fuckered up and the program may not work properly. For example, install Nero in anything other than C;\, and it'll be a bitch to run properly.

There's a registry key that defines where the Program Files directory is located. I don't remember exactly where, but I found it fairly easily before by searching for it in regedit.
