Backing up on on 0SX 10.2

My apolgies if this is a very n00bish question.

I recently acquired a 100gig external hard drive and would like to back up the 40gig hard drive on my Powerbook. What is the best way to go about doing this?
Music can name the un-nameable and communicate with the unknowable.

Copy the HD contents over.

That should do it, Works for my RUDY whenever I backup each month.
