I had some problems with my computer, decided to do an overhaul.
I ended up with:
Athlon 2000XP+ (old)
Asus A7N8X-X
Radeon 9800Pro
Kingston 512ddr (old)
Chieftec 360Watt
The thing is, I changed mainboards without reinstalling the system (XP).
The damn thing (XP) would re-boot the system every time it tried to load. I ran the setup disk and did an "attempt to recover the system" option (when you choose what to do with the existing installations). The system reinstalled and ran ok, but the loading times are horrible. Everything is deliciously fast until it reaches the just-before-the-desktop appears, with the blue screen and a nice "loading" message. It stops there for a few minutes, then desktop appears but it takes about 30 secs for my WLAN connection icon to appear.
I cleared any hardware-related issues, installed proper audio drivers and fixed the stubborn PCI to USB enhancement driver. Still nothing. I have no anti-virs installed, no firewalls, nothing (yet).
The question is, what can I do, apart from formatting the system partition and reinstalling the damn thing (XP)? My old mainboard was Gigabyte GA7VA and it ran ok. Did the swap of mainboards f*cked up the system?
Slow boot-up
