Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth

Post by DPDarkPrimus »

Hey, anybody remember this game? I know I've been looking forward to it fondly for quite some time. But there wasn't much news about it for a while.

Well, in probably the quietest title lanch ever, it's out now for X-Box. PC version hits March 6, 2005.

I need reviews before I'm going to touch it.

March 6, 2005? Wow. Quiet indeed. So quiet I haven't seen it in the past eight months or so. :P
It's a strange world. Let's keep it that way.

When I clicked your link I saw no reviews. Clicking agian I see links to reviews. Not from any website I trust.

 Indeed.

And incase your wondering websites I trust. IGN, Gamespy, Gamespot, Firingsquad, PCGamer, Tweak3d, HomelandFed, 3dSpot and a few others.

Which is different than no reviews, period. Which is what your post implied, dumbass.

You have my sympathies for being such a lazy sloth as to be unable to go to those sites and look for a review yourself.

How much more vauge can I be? I don't know how vauge is that?

Looking looking looking, ooh look, none of the websites I mentioned have a review! But then I'm not sure why your foaming at the mouth.

There is no yet solid review about the game. No mention of how much exactly is scaryness. No mention of weapon loadout(A KEY factor in any FPS though some do mention ammo is few and far between) They are summiations or scimmings.

Not note is problems with controls, diffculty level overall or graphics.

For a game in devolpment overall with such a complete lack of buildup to release and information over the years is highl suspect. Its not that hard to email Gamespy and the like with a few brief tibits and some screenshots(Something they did way back when but went silent after all.)

A good solid review will show if this game was rush out the door, or more likley dropped on its head and shoved to the curb. Prehaps its 100% Solid Gold Good Scary as shit gaming. Something I need a good quality review to find out before I go blow $50 on it.

Is it primarily PC or XBox? No fucking way I'm playing another Thief 3: that game was RUINED by it's XBox roots.

From what I've been reading, it looks great. Not mind-blowing, but better than it has to.
There is no yet solid review about the game.
According to you.
No mention of how much exactly is scaryness.
Really? The reviews posted seemed pretty clear that it's pretty fucking creepy to me.

Here's where you've got it all wrong. It is not a first person shooter. It is a first person survival horror.

One would think that no news is good news.

And as I've stated already, your definition of a "good quality review" is certainly nit-picking. I'm sorry they haven't followed your itemized list. Do you want to continue on with this silly "omg no good reviews" whinging of yours, or can this topic continue to be discussion about the game?

With regards XBoxness, my concern isn't graphics so much as horrible loading (long and frequent) brought on by being built for the XBoxes laughable resources. It ruined T3(which was otherwise a good game) on PC. Don't really know why I'm worrying, since the PC version isn't coming out for SIX FUCKING MONTHS. What a waste of a promising game.

Don't worry Stark - I too had that same bitter hatred of T3 (which made me stop playing it after a few levels), though thankfully there is now a group of mappers using the full SDK that was released to "graft" the maps together so that a level, is in fact just a single map...
